Step 1...
To the left is an install guide briefly covering the application
of our Red Rear film onto the top of a standard Vw golf tail light.
Application will vary for different lights. You may click any of the
images to view larger ones.
Items listed below will help with the install.
Fitment can be done in situ if you prefer, although having the lights removed
may yield better results.
It is your choice to remove pronounced markings, this is done so at your own discretion,
using
either wet and dry or a stanley blade (Goggles must be worn) Lamin-X.co.uk
are not responsible for your choice.
Use a spray bottle to mix a very weak solution of water / washing up liquid, Use
a clean cloth and thoroughly clean the lights.
Completely dry the lights and wipe clean using a quality microfibre cloth, a
quality microfibre cloth is anti-static so will provide a dust free install.
Step 2...
Peel back the film and apply it centrally over the light. With the film laid on surface of the light, you should stretch/pull the film around curves and contours while using the supplied squeegee working your way from central points.
You can lift/re lay the film within reason while still using the squeegee.
If you are fitting the film on lights with obvious edges, it may help to heat the film while stretching/pulling. People use different means for this...We advise the use of a hair dryer.
If you struggle to remove smaller bubbles/water do not worry as the film is breathable. These bubbles will disappear after a short time within reason. Obviously overly large bubbles will take some time.
Step 3...
At this stage you may either
carry on heating a little at a time while pulling and stretching the film around corners,
and then trim carefully.
OR
You may simply run the knife around the face of the glass/plastic so the film only
covers the main surface area.
Either way you will now have the near finished result. All that remains is for the completed light to carefully be re-fitted to the vehicle.
Step 4...
Once re-fitted, the vehicle should not be washed for 24-48 hours. The film will/can continue to cure and bond for up to two weeks depending on your climate. In this curing period some misting and small bubbling may occur, this is normal and will clear as any moisture dissipates through the breathable film.
